This is dedicated to the newly adopted son of my family friends, the Schmidts of Fairfax, VA.  They have graciously accepted into their home a two-year-old Chinese boy with special needs, and many of the families in our neighborhood have contributed to a quilt which I understand is a Chinese tradition..
